RKD 168 RALEIGH STIRRUP FRONT BRAKE CALIPER + “RAINCHECK” LEATHER BLOCKS 

Just found in the bosses barn this Genuine new old stock Raleigh Front Brake Caliper that has been made in ENGLAND by Raleigh or Sturmey Archer in Nottingham

Fitted with Raleigh branded leather brake shoes ( known as “raincheck” ) which were specially designed to make better braking on steel rims in the wet 

We are not sure of the actual year this was made but we are 95% certain its from 1970’s 5% chance early 80’s (so make your own mind up ) 

This is still with the original Raleigh poly bag packaging & code number.

We think this was for a Raleigh tourer , town bike, sports bike etc  as reach is not long enough for some Raleigh models (see below)

Fantastic Chrome Plated Finish as good as when it was made around 35-40 years ago

Has  “made in England” stamped on it

Full Threaded Caliper bolt that could be cut to suit front or rear with a fine pitch thread (not metric)

Length of bolt 50mm

Approx 85mm maximum reach with a 55mm Minimum

Supplied with Raleigh brand Raincheck brake blocks with leather face
